Agonising defeat!

The School football team had a home game earlier this afternoon. I was pleased with the way the team played. I talked a lot to them before the match about RESPECT for the GAME. This means respecting our team mates, respecting the opposition and respecting the referee. I am pleased to say that the team achieved this. The match itself was a titanic struggle full of incident. Both sides hit the post and the crossbar, both goalies made great saves and there was even a case for goal line technology! Sometimes you don’t think that you get the decisions you feel that you deserve but respecting the referee means that you accept the decision and move on. Unfortunately, we lost the game 3-2. That is now one win and two defeats for us this season.

The Hour of Code!

There was much excitement in 5L this afternoon. We took part in the ‘Hour of Code’ which is a worldwide project to get anyone writing code which is the basis for all computer games, programs and apps. The children wrote lines of code to control Angry Birds, Zombies and Flappy Birds! I was really pleased with how everyone took part and many children completed all 20 activities in the Hour of Code which was a great achievement. Everyone had lots of fun too! I hope many of you continue beyond this hour at home. There is a link to it on our frog site.

Well done girls!

The girls football team had an excellent 3-1 win this evening. As last week, only two teams managed to make it so there was just one match. It was an even game with both teams having good chances to score. Our opponents, Heaton Avenue, scored first and led at half time. Sophie Jackson scored two fantastic goals in the second half before the win was sealed by Cyiah Jerome with the third goal. Unfortunately, Jessica couldn’t play this evening due to illness. Get well soon Jess and you’re still part of the team! I’m really proud of all the girls who took part. Well done!

Great start to the new season!

Well done to the school football team who made a winning start to the new football season. Two goals from Charlie Smith and one from William Jeffries helped the team win 3-0. All the goals were scored in the first half. Our opposition, Heaton Avenue, played much better in the second half and it needed some good defending and excellent goalkeeping by Fintan Deane to keep a clean sheet. Well done to all 11 of the squad who took part.
